Women's Imaging
Lake Forest Hospital Diagnostic Imaging Centers offer a wide variety of women's imaging services, including:
- Bone densitometry, or DEXA (Dual-Energy X-ray Absorptiometry), is a simple, non-invasive X-ray procedure that is used to measure bone mineral density. The results of bone densitometry estimate your risk of developing bone loss, osteoporosis or a fracture.
- Breast MRI takes a more advanced look for cancers that may be too subtle to identify on mammography or ultrasound. It uses molecular signals to detect very sensitive lesions. Learn more about Breast MRI.
- Breast Ultrasound may be used to evaluate palpable findings or as an adjunct to mammography. The ability to visualize a finding via ultrasound greatly helps performing a biopsy, when necessary.
- Digital mammography provides images of the breast tissue without the use of X-ray films—which makes mammograms faster, more accurate and easier to share with consulting physicians.
- Stereotactic breast biopsy is a minimally invasive technique where a sample of suspicious breast tissue is precisely located with a computer-guided imaging system and removed with a needle. A stereotactic breast biopsy is used to confirm whether a breast abnormality is cancerous or not.
Other women’s imaging services include:
- Computer-aided “Second Look” diagnostic technology
- Obstetrical and Gynecological Ultrasound Studies
