Rehabilitative Services
Specialized Physical & Occupational Therapy
A woman experiences unique physical and emotional discomforts due to her biology and gender role, and therefore requires a tailored approach to healing and recovery therapies.
Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital’s Rehabilitative Services is Lake County’s most comprehensive and accessible offering of specialized rehabilitative services provided by highly trained, licensed physical and occupational therapists.
Physical therapists treat women with physical dysfunction due to disease or injury, or they help prevent injuries from occurring (i.e. athletic preparation), using treatment techniques that promote the ability to move, reduce pain and prevent disability. Occupational therapists help women learn or re-learn the fine motor skills that can give them independence in everyday life.
We offer the following specialty therapy programs for women, staffed by therapists with certifications and specialized training:
- Aquatic Therapy
- Cancer – Oncology Physical Therapy
- Cancer – Lymphedema
- Center for Child Development (Pediatric Therapy)
- Dancer's Maintenance Program
- Fall Prevention
- Hand Therapy
- Osteoporosis CARE (Complete Aerobic and Resistance Exercise and Education) Therapy
- Pelvic Floor Program
- Post C-section Early Exercise Program
- Sports Medicine
- Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ) Therapy
- Vestibular Rehabilitation
At Northwestern Lake Forest, you will work one-on-one with one of our therapists to develop an individualized therapy regimen that is developed in close and ongoing collaboration with your personal physician. Our goal is to ensure that you return to your maximum functionality, daily activities and overall quality of life as confidently, safely and pain-free as possible.
