Cardiologist Named Medical Director of Northwestern Medicine Glenview Outpatient Center
Joins the Medical Staff of the Bluhm Cardiovascular Institute at Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital

Northwestern’s Bluhm Cardiovascular Institute is ranked by U.S. News and World Report as the best cardiology and heart surgery program in Illinois and the 17th best program nationwide.
The cardiology program at the new Glenview Outpatient Center is one of a number of specialties, including dermatology, gastroenterology, general surgery, neurology, oncology, ophthalmology, optometry, orthopaedics, otolaryngology, sports medicine and urology. Primary care services include internal medicine and pediatrics, along with onsite laboratory, cardiac imaging and X-ray services. The Glenview Outpatient Center will include an Immediate Care Center to open in May, along with advanced imaging services like MRI and CT scanning that will be available by summer 2013. Imaging equipment is subject to approval by the State Health Facilities and Services Review Board later this spring.
Board certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular diseases, echocardiography and nuclear cardiology, Eimer comes to the Bluhm Cardiovascular Institute at Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital from the Cardiovascular Associates of Glenbrook and Evanston where he developed a very successful private practice.
Eimer holds a bachelor degree in economics from New York University and received his medical degree from Northwestern University Medical School in 1998. He completed an internship in general surgery at the University of Chicago Hospitals from 1998 to 1999 and completed a residency in internal medicine at Northwestern from 1999 to 2001. He was a fellow in the Division of Cardiology at Northwestern University Medical School from 2003 to 2006, and served as the chief medical resident at Northwestern from 2002 to 2003.

Eimer has held several teaching positions. He was an Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine at the Northwestern University from 2006 to 2009 and Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Cardiology at the University of Chicago Medical School from 2009 to 2012. He also has served as Instructor of Physical Diagnosis and Lecturer in Advanced ECG Interpretation at Northwestern University Medical School. He is a Cardiology Rotation Mentor at Northwestern University Medical School.
Eimer was honored with the 1998 American College of Physicians Departmental Award in Medicine. He was the recipient of the Specialist Attending of the Year in the Department of Medicine in 2007 and the Department of Family Medicine in 2008 at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. He was the 2000 Resident Teacher of the Year in the Department of Medicine at Northwestern University.
Eimer’s work has been published several times in peer-reviewed journals such as The American Journal of Cardiology and The Journal of Pediatrics. He has written chapters in two books on heart health and has contributed several abstracts to organizations such as the American Heart Association, the American College of Cardiology and the American Society of Nuclear Cardiology. He serves as a content reviewer for the American Board of Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Disease Board Examination, The American Journal of Cardiology, Heart and Lung, the International Journal of Cardiology and Cardiology.
