Surgeon Joins Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital

Lake Forest, Ill. – Victor Tsirline, MD has joined the surgical staff at Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital, specializing in noninvasive surgery. Tsirline is also an assistant professor of Gastrointestinal and Endocrine Surgery at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine.

“We continue to expand the noninvasive surgical team at Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital with the addition of Dr. Tsirline’s exceptional talents,” said Michael G. Ankin, MD, FACP, FCCP, vice president of medical affairs and chief medical officer for Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital. “Dr. Tsirline’s background includes research at Stroger Hospital and Carolina Medical Center, along with numerous professional publications and presentations focused on hernia repair and laparoscopic surgery, bringing valuable expertise in these areas to care for our patients.”

Tsirline received his medical degree from Rush University Medical Center in 2004 and completed his internship and residency at Loyola University Medical Center. He completed his fellowship in minimally invasive surgery at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, North Carolina from 2010 to 2012. He also holds a master’s degree in computational neuroscience from Northwestern University and holds bachelor’s degrees in biomedical engineering and computer science from Northwestern University, where he graduated magna cum laude. He is board certified in surgery by the American Board of Surgery and Minimally Invasive Surgery and licensed in Illinois and North Carolina.

Tsirline has been published extensively in his field of research and presents his findings frequently. His peer-reviewed work has been published as book chapters and in journals such as Annals of Surgery and he has presented to the American College of Surgeons, the Academic Surgical Congress and the American Hernia Society on a variety of topics. He has taught courses related to hernia repair, anti-reflux surgery, bariatric surgery and colorectal cancer, among others.

Tsirline is fluent in four languages—English, Russian, German and Spanish—and lives with his wife and son in Lincolnshire.
