Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital Women’s Board Benefit an All-American Success

Lake Forest, Ill. — With an election year upon us, the Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital Women’s Auxiliary Board carried a political theme throughout its annual benefit. Red, white and blue décor donned the party, held September 12 in the historic riding area of Lake Forest’s Onwentsia Club.

The benefit’s 450 guests took great pleasure in the political satire of The Capitol Steps comedy sketch group, and in the rousing beats of the Gentlemen of Leisure band.

Benefit Chair Dylan Hardy of Lake Forest says this year’s event was one of the most successful and exciting in the benefit’s history. Katie Ford and Margaret Magnuson, also of Lake Forest, co-chaired the event.

“Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital is a community hospital; we all know that it never stops caring for us,” Hardy said. “But this benefit showed us the other side of the story too; it was a shining example of just how much the community cares about its hospital.”

At this year’s benefit, the community raised more than $350,000. The money will support the hospital’s top-quality health services. Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital was recently named a #1 Consumers Choice hospital for the fourth year in a row by National Research Corporation.

The hospital’s charity care, in particular, will benefit from event proceeds. In the “Care to Make a Difference” live auction item, party-goers raised their paddles – and over $65,000 – for CareCoach, the hospital’s mobile health unit that serves the underinsured of Lake County.

Benefit Chair Dylan Hardy noted how the presence of Lake Forest physicians added to the night. Hardy says the physicians were able to witness, firsthand, the extraordinary support that the community brings to the hospital.

A number of local politicians attended the event, including State Senators Susan Garrett and Terry Link, and State Representative Karen May.

The Women’s Auxiliary Board was founded in 1942 and currently has more than 100 members. The board’s mission is to support the hospital through fundraising, volunteerism, education and advocacy.
