Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois Sign New Multi-year Agreement

Lake Forest, Ill. – Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital announced today it has signed a new three-year contract with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois (BCBS). This contract renewal allows Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital to maintain a longstanding and uninterrupted relationship which began with the health insurance company in 1957.

The reimbursement contract is effective 2008 through 2010 and includes all inpatient care, outpatient services, skilled nursing care and home care services provided by Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital.

“We recognize the importance of providing convenient services for our patients and are pleased that there will be no disruption in coverage for our BCBS patients,” said Thomas J. McAfee, President and CEO of Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital.

“Our renewed relationship with BCBS indicates our shared commitment of service to the residents of Lake County who seek and deserve access to quality, affordable health care,” McAfee concluded.

Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital provides a wide range of inpatient and outpatient services at its Lake Forest and Grayslake campuses. The hospital is expanding its acute care center to a freestanding emergency center in Grayslake and, pending state approval, plans a further expansion at the location to include an outpatient surgery center and cancer care center.
