Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital Names New Chaplain
Lake Forest, Ill. –The Rev. Emily Rosencrans has begun her new duties as Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital chaplain. An ordained Presbyterian minister for 20 years, she most recently served as the chaplain at Rydal Park, a continuing care retirement community of nearly 700 residents in Rydal (suburban Philadelphia), Pa.
Rosencrans is certified in marriage and family counseling and has specialized training in grief and trauma counseling. In addition, she received training in spirituality and healing at Harvard University Medical School and has two credits in clinical pastoral education (CPE).
Rosencrans has a master of divinity degree from Princeton Theological Seminary and a bachelor’s degree in business management (with a minor in British history) from Webster University.
She sees her current position at Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital as a wonderful opportunity to return to the area where she grew up. “After 25 years along the east coast, I wanted to come home to the Midwest to be near aging family members,” Rosencrans says. “From my very first contact through subsequent interviews with various Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital staff members, I felt a sense of excitement about working with such an excellent team. There is a warm, professional, caring ethos here. Everyone who works at Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital is enthusiastic about its mission and their part in it. I am thrilled to be in a position where I will be able to utilize all my gifts, training, and experience focus in caring for the spiritual and emotional needs of patients and staff.”
In her spare time, Rosencrans enjoys reading, writing, cooking, beekeeping and spending time with her family.
Her husband, who is also a Presbyterian pastor, and three teenaged children will relocate here from Pennsylvania in the near future.
