Hospital Medicine
Hospital Medicine is a fast-growing medical specialty, comprised of physicians whose primary role is to provide comprehensive medical care to hospitalized patients. These doctors, also called hospitalists, help patients through the continuum of hospital care, often seeing patients in the Emergency Department—and, if admitted, following them into the acute care or critical care unit and organizing post-hospital care.
Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital is proud to welcome new Northwestern hospitalists to our staff, who are available onsite to hospitalized patients and their families 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. By coordinating patients’ care with their primary care physician, subspecialists, nurses and other staff within the hospital, our hospitalists create a safer and more effective healing environment for our patients.
Our hospitalists provide additional support to our patients and their families, including:
- 24/7 onsite availability to answer medical questions
- Expertise in hospital care
- Familiarity with hospital resources, services and departments
- Help facilitating post-hospital care when patients are discharged
- Improved quality, continuity and efficiency of care
