OB Hospitalist Meet and Greet

We have partnered with Northwestern Memorial Physicians Group and Prentice Women's Hospital to offer obstetric (OB) hospitalist services at Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital. OB hospitalists are board-certified obstetricians who provide 24/7 onsite coverage of Labor and Delivery and work collaboratively with your private physician for exceptional, patient-centered care. Whether directly involved in your care or simply providing support if needed, the presence of the OB hospitalists onsite around the clock means peace of mind for you and your baby.

This Meet and Greet session provides the opportunity to meet three members of the OB hospitalist team prior to your admission to the hospital. They will discuss the role of an OB hospitalist, how they respect the special relationship you have with your private physician, as well as review topics related to labor and delivery.

This session is recommended for all women in their second or third trimester, whether you are expecting your first baby or have experienced childbirth already. Spouses, significant others, friends or any support person who may accompany you to the hospital for your delivery are welcome to attend.

We have partnered with Northwestern Memorial Physicians Group and Prentice Women's Hospital to offer obstetric (OB) hospitalist services at Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital. • Hormonal changes
  • Difference between "baby blues" and postpartum depression—and how to find the support and resources you may need

Among cancers that affect women and men, colorectal cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death in the U.S., according to the Centers for Disease Control. In the United States in 2010, 132,000 people were diagnosed with colorectal cancer and more than 50,000 died from it. More than 90 percent of colorectal cancer cases occur in people 50 years or older.

For those 50 years or older, taking a screening test for colorectal cancer could save their lives because the test screens for markers that indicate precancerous polyps that can be removed they turn into cancer. Screening can also detect the cancer early when treatment often leads to a cure.

For more information about colorectal cancer or for questions about the screening kits, please call Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital at 847.535.6186 or Northwestern Grayslake at 847.535.7400.

Free Colorectal Screening Kits

Beginning March 1 to launch Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month, Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital and Northwestern Grayslake are providing free colorectal screening kits for community members.

Patients can pick up screening kits at the registration desk inside Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital’s Main Entrance or at the Northwestern Grayslake Cancer Center.

Nurses will be available daily between the hours of 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. to answer questions about the kits and general colorectal screening guidelines. Please call 847.535.6186 to speak with a nurse. Screening kits will be available through the end of the year.
