OB Hospitalist Meet and Greet
We have partnered with Northwestern Memorial Physicians Group and Prentice Women's Hospital to offer obstetric (OB) hospitalist services at Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital. OB hospitalists are board-certified obstetricians who provide 24/7 onsite coverage of Labor and Delivery and work collaboratively with your private physician for exceptional, patient-centered care. Whether directly involved in your care or simply providing support if needed, the presence of the OB hospitalists onsite around the clock means peace of mind for you and your baby.
This Meet and Greet session provides the opportunity to meet three members of the OB hospitalist team prior to your admission to the hospital. They will discuss the role of an OB hospitalist, how they respect the special relationship you have with your private physician, as well as review topics related to labor and delivery.
This session is recommended for all women in their second or third trimester, whether you are expecting your first baby or have experienced childbirth already. Spouses, significant others, friends or any support person who may accompany you to the hospital for your delivery are welcome to attend.
For more information, please contact Mary Rieber at childbirthed@lfh.org or 847.535.6182.

- Hormonal changes
- Difference between "baby blues" and postpartum depression—and how to find the support and resources you may need
This class is for anyone (women, spouses, partners, support persons) and may be taken pre- or post-delivery. The fee is $10.
Please note: when registering, 1 registration refers to 1 couple, not 1 person.

Free Colorectal Screening Kits
Beginning March 1 to launch Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month, Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital is providing free colorectal screening kits for the community. Occult blood screening kits will be available through the end of the year and can be picked up in the gastrointestinal (GI) lab at the hospital.
Among cancers that affect women and men, colorectal cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death in the US, according to the Centers for Disease Control. More than 140,000 Americans are diagnosed with colorectal cancer each year and more than 50,000 die from it. More than 90 percent of colorectal cancer cases occur in people 50 years or older.
For those 50 years or older, taking a screening test for colorectal cancer could save their lives. Colorectal screening tests can find precancerous polyps so they can be removed before they turn into cancer. Screening can also detect the cancer early when treatment often leads to a cure.
To pick up your kit, go to the Visitor's Entrance of Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital and ask for directions to the GI Lab. Details on how to use the ColoCARE kit are available here.
For more information about colorectal cancer or for questions about the screening kits, please call 847.535.6186.

Survive Strong
Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital's Rehabilitative Services have partnered with Lake Forest Health & Fitness Center to offer a cancer-related fatigue program, Survive Strong.
Through multiple research studies, evidence shows that low to moderate exercise in oncology patients can reduce and even prevent cancer-related fatigue, reduce side effects of chemotherapy and radiation, improve quality of life and possibly even improve survival rates.
This program is designed for individuals diagnosed with any stage of cancer who are experiencing fatigue or weakness, or are unsure how to initiate exercise. It is appropriate for anyone currently undergoing chemotherapy or radiation therapy, or who has completed cancer treatment within the past year.
A physician's referral is required and scholarships are available for program participants.

Clinical Programs
