Dermatology (Skin)

Affiliated with Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital are dermatologists who specialize in the diagnosis and treatment of pediatric skin diseases. Skin diseases can be isolated to the skin or be manifestations of internal disease; sometimes they are activated or aggravated by psycho-social issues a child or teen may be facing. Our dermatologists provides state-of-the-art treatment options as well as prevention strategies for general dermatology conditions common in children or teens, such as acne, eczema, psoriasis, dermatitis and rosacea.

Skin Cancer—The sensitive skin of a developing child—and, in particular, of babies—is not prepared to react to sun exposure. The Skin Cancer Foundation warns parents that babies under six months of age should not be exposed at all to the sun. Children of all ages need proper levels of sunscreen protection whenever they are outside. By reducing or eliminating your child’s exposure to the sun, melanoma, or skin cancer, can be prevented. At Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital, we’re dedicated to educating people about the most effective ways to protect themselves against this highly preventable form of cancer.
