The board certified surgeons at Lake Forest Hospital operate from seven operating room suites, each equipped with the latest surgical technology including technological advances for minimally invasive techniques. Surgical specialties here include ENT, general surgery, neurosurgery, orthopedics, plastics, thoracic and urology. The surgical staff works with our Anesthesia Department, where each physician is board certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology.
Outpatient Surgery (Ambulatory)—For “same-day outpatient surgery,”most men who are undergoing shorter, less invasive surgeries can expect to go home after the surgery and a short recovery period in the hospital. After you are registered and prepared for surgery, you will meet your anesthesiologist and operating room nurse who will accompany you to the operating room. Following your surgery, if indicated, you will be observed for a period of time in our Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU), formally known as the Recovery Room. You will be continually monitored as the anesthetic wears off. Following an evaluation, day surgery patients will be returned to the Day Surgery Unit to be discharged to continue healing at home.
Inpatient Surgeries—More complex surgeries require a stay in the hospital for one or several nights so the patient’s recovery can be monitored more closely. When overnight or extended stay is needed after surgery, you will be taken to your room from the recovery area or the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit. Your family or friends can wait in the surgical waiting room to speak with the surgeon after the procedure. Ask questions when you have them and give feedback that will aid in your recovery and discharge home.
We offer a variety of appointment times to best fit our patient's busy schedules. Please call to determine the best appointment time for you.
