Pulmonology (Lung)
Chronic pulmonary disease can be a debilitating illness that causes shortness of breath and impacts the ability to perform everyday activities. It often leads to a sedentary lifestyle, which subsequently leads to deterioration of the body’s muscle function and other health complications. Recent studies show that chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)—which includes emphysema and chronic bronchitis—affects men and women differently. At Lake Forest Hospital, treatment of COPD and other pulmonary conditions such as asthma and lung cancer is carefully tailored to the needs of each individual.
Pulmonary Rehabilitation—The Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program at Lake Forest Hospital is an individualized program comprised of exercise, education and nutritional assessment for people with pulmonary diseases to help control their symptoms, regain their strength and muscle function, improve their ability to perform day-to-day activities and often improve their overall health and independence. Nurses, respiratory therapists, exercise physiologists and dietitians will take part in your care and instruction. For appointment scheduling or additional information, please call (847) 535-6183.
