Collaborative Governance Model
The Department of Nursing bylaws at Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital delineate the responsibility, accountability and authority of shared governance. Shared decision-making is the mechanism used to describe professional nursing and to insure a high level of professional performance by all nursing team members authorized to practice, as identified in the bylaws.
Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital's Collaborative Governance Model reflects the structure for the professional practice of nursing, is incorporated within the hospital quality and safety structure and signifies the importance of nurses within the climate of safety. All units participate in quality monitoring and improvement activity that is reported at both the organization and unit level.
